TTE Technical Institute worked with Nigeria LNG from 2001 to 2018, delivering off-the-job operations and engineering maintenance training and assessments. The work was delivered after winning the contract valued at £4,426,054 through a successful bidding process.
TTE developed training solutions to meet the Nigeria LNG needs identified in the request proposal. The training programmes delivered National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) Level 2 Diploma in Performing Process Operations in a replicated environment and NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations. In addition, the technicians also undertook several Health and Safety Level 2 award qualifications including CIEH Manual Handling, CIEH COSHH, CIEH Workplace, and CIEH Risk Assessment.
For TTE, good technical training is part of the equation in developing a competent and work-ready technician. Thus, as part of the programme TTE offered personal development and team-
building training that was managed by TTE and delivered by one of their trusted outward-bound partner centres. The team-building programmes included communication skills, behaviour impacts, trust and support, bringing strengths, action planning and time management. The institute also catered a full welfare service which included accommodation, medical support and pastoral care.
During the contract, TTE supported a broad range of extracurricular activities to enhance the technicians’ learning experience. For example, it supervised visits to London and other places of social and industrial interest, sporting events, theatre and cinema visits. Before undertaking any of these activities a full-risk assessment was undertaken to ensure the learners’ safety.
TTE successfully delivered operations and engineering programmes in 2001, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2014 and 2018. In every case, TTE had a 100% success rate in achieving the specified qualifications within the tender documentation and during those 17 years, 232 technicians were trained.
