Bindzu Agrobusiness e Consultoria is a company with 100% Mozambican capital, founded in 2010 by three young agronomy graduates. Bindzu operates in the entire value chain of the agricultural industry and explores an area of 50 hectares in the Moamba district in Maputo.

The first challenge that Bindzu faced was the elaboration of a business plan for vegetable production. However, the experience obtained in a biodiesel project of which the founders were part, amortized this issue. The second was to invest, in the first phase, on a smaller scale, in the production of tomatoes, carrots, and peppers using their funds in an estimated 730 thousand meticais in the expectation of increasing it with the income from the first production.

The search for funding was a process of several requests, however, when approached the Ministry of Agriculture they were presented to an investor who became a partner. Nevertheless, the investment made by the new partner was not enough. So, they approached the Prime Minister’s office where they received funding from the then Agricultural Development Fund (FDA) and a grant from the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA). 

During their activities, the entrepreneurs faced difficulties in purchasing inputs and soil preparation. It served as catalyst for them to add more services to their business portfolio. Today, including agricultural production, Bindzu provides agricultural consulting services, sale and assembly of greenhouses and irrigation systems, technical assistance, market studies, design and implementation of community development projects, sale of agricultural inputs and agribusiness training and education.
