ROMPCO Loop Line 2 Project an Example of a Successful Partnership to Promote Local Content

2018

ENH Bonatti, a joint venture between ENH and the Italian company Bonatti, as the main contractor, led the ROMPCO Loop Line 2 Project. The project valued at $210 million, which aimed to install a pipeline parallel to the existing 865 km pipeline that belongs to ROMPCO (a joint venture of SASOL, CMG and iGas), connecting Mozambique to South Africa, from the scraper collection station 1 (STS1), located about 128 km from UPC, covering a length of 127 km until it reconnects to the main pipeline at the Scraper collection station 2 (STS2).

During the construction phase of the second expansion pipeline (LL2), the project created employment opportunities for about 550 Mozambicans, mostly from communities in the vicinity of the project. Of these, more than 50% received formal knowledge transfer training in coating and grinding, machine operations, as well as cooking and meal service operations. Read More
