Vodacom’s Computerization of Public Schools Project Reached 14 Schools

2009 to 2010

Vodacom Mozambique launched in 2009, in Mozambique, the project of Computerization of Public Schools in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Culture through the Project “Um Olhar de Esperança”. The project aimed to build and equip informatic rooms with computers, internet modems, printers, etc. and relied on the support of Microsoft for the installation of software and maintenance of all equipment for a period of 24 months.

In total, 14 computer rooms were delivered to the same number of schools in a phased manner. On average, each school was supplied with 25 computers, a printer, a server, and a modem. Besides the computer equipment, some schools also received complete kits of sports equipment, dictionaries, and schoolbooks. It is estimated that the project has benefited more than 40,000 students in different schools during its implementation phase.

The Minister of Education and Culture praised this gesture by Vodacom, having classified it as a preferred partner of the Project “Um Olhar de Esperança”, because its commitment to the development of education in Mozambique through various partnerships has improved access to the Internet and technological advancement. For Vodacom, the installation of computer rooms allowed students not only greater contact with the outside world through the Internet, but also access to a virtual library. Read More
